Legacy Academy Trades Initiative - Tools

Initial training in vocational skills, in the form of formal classes in welding, carpentry, sewing, and baking has had great success! It so incredible to see the things the children have made with their own hands, the skills learning and potential for employment those items represent, and to see their excitement in the process! But so far Family Legacy has only established these vocational technical (votech) labs at the Tree of Life Children’s Village and Bauleni Legacy Academy. Based on these preliminary results, led by William Cook, the Program Manager for Trades and Innovation, we are seeing votech training becoming a reality for many of our sponsored children! I am calling on you today to see if you will help us grow this initiative!

When this will happen at each school and to what degree is dependent on funding. But first thing in every scenario, we need to get tools and materials in Will’s hands so that he can teach and grow this program. These tools and materials will be the beginning of this very exciting learning initiative. Our immediate need is to outfit the new lab established in Bauleni Legacy Academy and for use in other areas as the project grows.

The vision is that alongside learning in core academic courses that children will also benefit from the types of hands-on learning that will lead to them actually having job skills that will make the difference when it comes time for them to crack into the job market!

That these children would have an enthusiastic teacher in front of them and real tools in their hands to learn a trade – let’s just say, that many of us have been dreaming of this day for a long time! For any support you can manage, thank you. And please be praying for the numbers of students to increase in these important programs, and that they can be successful as they train for their vocational certifications in addition to their educational diplomas.

Please note that in the event this need is overfunded, your gift will be used where most needed in our Trades program.
